On this page, you will find information about Aussois and travel options.
Aussois is a commune in the Savoie region of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in Southeastern France. It is situated in the Maurienne valley, 7 km away from Modane and near the Vanoise National Parc, France's first National Park. It is also at the foot of the Dent Parrachee, one of the highest peaks of the Vanoise.
The main activity of the village remains agricultural but has become a popular family ski resort in winter and a beautiful mountain destination in summer.
Aussois' ideal location at the border of the Vanoise National Park allows for transportation links with Grenoble, Geneva, Lyon, Turin, and Chambery. The best way to reach Aussois is from Modane, where you can take a shuttle at the bus station next to the railway (S52 Line between Morane and Sardière, more information here), or a taxi to Centre Paul Langevin, located at 24 rue du Coin, 73500, Aussois.
Due to a recent rockfall accident on the Lyon-Turin railroad (in September 2023), a part of the journey until Modane has been modified and is now covered by a shuttle service. Please find below more information on how to reach Modane:
By train: To reach Modane's train station (8 km from Aussois) from Paris and Lyon, SCNF offers trains to Saint-Michel-Valloire. The rest of the journey to Modane is covered by a bus provided by the SNCF and accessible from the train station (around 20 minutes from Saint Michel Valloire).
