The Summer School on Public Policy - Brasilia took place from 8 to 12 May 2023!

The Fifth edition of the International Summer School on Public Policy Brasilia was organized from 8 -12 May 2023. The main objective of this International Summer School was to provide an immersive learning experience on theories, concepts, and methodologies in policy studies for Ph.D. students and Early Career Researchers.

The Summer School was interactive and delivered by renowned international scholars namely, Charlotte Halpern (Sciences Po Paris), Laura Chaques (University of Barcelona), Giliberto Capano (University of Bologna) [Link to the Lecture "Public Policy and Crisis Management: Theoretical and Methodological Challenges"], and Philippe Zittoun (University of Lyon) [Link to the Lecture "Understand the politics of policymaking"].

35 participants from Brazil, Japan, Portugal, and the United Kingdom were allocated to 3 groups of 10 to 15 Ph.D. students, and Early Career Researchers focused on providing valuable comments for research and discussing research projects or case studies. 

The Summer School's daily schedule was as follows:

  • A morning lecture of 1h delivered to all participants by a renowned scholar - 4h total
  • A morning interactive course of 2h given to a small group on a specific topic every day - 10h total  
  • An afternoon workshop of 3h delivered to a small group (on Research Projects or case studies for Ph.D. students and Early Career Researchers) - 12h total 

The afternoon workshops consisted of presenting and discussing research papers or case studies focused on Policy Studies. 

The Summer School was free for IPPA members and ENAP Students. Participants needed to become individual members of IPPA and to cover their travel and accommodation costs.
