Organized in partnership with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, this International Executive School of Public Policy will take place from March 3 to 6, 2025, and will focus on Advanced Policy Design: Insights from Europe and Singapore.

This course delves into the intricacies of policy design, focusing on the development of effective policies in the face of socio-economic and political challenges. Participants will enhance their theoretical understanding and practical skills for navigating the policy design process, particularly during crises. The curriculum addresses the political nature of policy problems, the essential capacities required for effective design, and the selection of appropriate policy instruments. Emphasis will be placed on integrating evaluation throughout the policy process to ensure robustness and adaptability. Key themes include the political foundations of policy design, the necessity of robust solutions for collective issues, and the interplay between policy instruments and implementation. Through discussions and hands-on working groups, participants will learn to approach policy design as both a conceptual framework and a practical methodology for achieving governance objectives.

The course will be taught by two renowned scholars, namely Giliberto Capano (University of Bologna, Italy) and Woo Jun Jie (Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore).

This Executive School targets mid to senior policymakers, public administrators, elected officials, policy analysts, NGO leaders interested in deepening their awareness and knowledge on the complexity of policy design and in enhancing their skills in designing policies that can really work.
