The first edition of the Executive Summer School Brasilia edition, co-organized by IPPA and ENAP, took place from June 10-14, 2024, and focused on Policy Designs for Challenging Problems.
The objective of the courses was to increase the theoretical knowledge of the participants as well as their practical analytical skills with respect to the management of the policy design process, and its evaluative dimension, in complex and mixed governance arrangements. The empirical focus, particularly developed during the working groups will be on Latin American policies.
The Executive School was designed for high-level practitioners to encourage them to think from a Policy Design perspective, through a process of immediate application of the constitutive elements of this approach to the policies in which they are involved.
The courses were taught by three renowned scholars, namely Azad Bali (University of Melbourne and University of Qatar), Giliberto Capano (University of Bologna), Claudia Souza Passador (FEA-RP/US).
Over the four days, the schedule included interactive lectures in the morning and working group sessions in the afternoon, with groups preparing and presenting case studies, and Friday focused on a roundtable discussing the role of public servants in policy design, featuring the teacher and a few participants sharing insights based on their experience and course learnings.
