The International Public Policy Association (IPPA) is looking for an intern at its head office located at ENTPE - University of Lyon, France.

IPPA's main objective is to promote public policy research and to create an academic community in the field by bringing together members from around the world. It currently has 1,500 members from 80 different countries.

 

Activities

 

IPPA's main activity is to organize the International Conference on Public Policy (ICPP) which takes place every two years. The seventh edition is scheduled from July 2-4, 2025 in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and is expected to bring together around 1,300 participants, coming from all over the world. In its attempt to reach even more people, the association has undertaken an increasing number of projects – ongoing and future – such as the International Seasonal Schools on Public Policy for Ph.D. students, and the International Workshops on Public Policy, an academic review, books, etc. IPPA also seeks to offer the international academic community resources relevant to the policy field through its website and newsletters (which are sent twice a month to more than 13,000 subscribers). IPPA also supports an online open-access academic journal, the International Review on Public Policy.

 

Intern's responsibilities 

 

The intern will contribute to the development of the International Public Policy Association (IPPA) by working on:

  • Organizing the 7th edition of the International Conference on Public Policy which will take place in Chiang Mai from 2-4 July 2025;
  • Assisting in the organization of our Seasonal Schools (specifically the editions in Yaoundé, Nairobi, Berkeley and Padova);
  • Creating content for the association's website and social networks;
  • Sending out IPPA newsletters;
  • Assisting daily in the administration and management of the association.

Please note that IPPA is not a research institute, therefore you won't be involved in any research activities during this internship.

 

Intern's profile

 

- Well-organized, autonomous, and interested in learning about the organization of academic events in the public policy field

- Master student in communication, public policy, political sciences, social sciences, international relations, or other relevant fields of studies. Graduated students or Ph.D. students are not eligible for this position. The intern has to be a master's student for the entire duration of the internship.

- English (fluent) – French (basic - not compulsory)

 

Internship at IPPA

 

Internship period: From February to July 2025 for 5-6 months

Allowance: In accordance with the current French law, the allowance will be approximately € 700/month (for a 35h/week work schedule) 

Other benefits: A 50% reimbursement of public transport costs (if applicable) and access to the ENTPE cafeteria (approximately € 4-5 per meal)

Internship location: The head office of the IPPA is located at ENTPE (State National School of Public Works), at the LAET Laboratory (UMR CNRS), 2 rue Maurice Audin, 69120 Vaulx en Velin, France

Administrative requirements: Tripartite intern agreement signed by the intern’s university, the intern, and the IPPA
