This keynote roundtable celebrates Asia’s growing leadership in global public policy by highlighting the region’s dynamic progress, innovation, and complexity. As Asia's economic and geopolitical importance rises, its diverse public policy contexts—shaped by rapid digital transformation, behavioral insights, and collective leadership—produce distinctive innovations that challenge conventional paradigms. Structured around three key themes, this roundtable brings together leading voices in public policy research and practice to explore: 1. Emerging Shifts in Policy Paradigms We will examine how public policy practice and research across Asia are evolving. From digital governance and behavioral approaches to new leadership and learning models, Asia is undergoing a profound transformation—one that is increasingly shaping global thinking and practice. 2. Innovations and Distinctive Approaches While theories may claim universality, Asia’s diverse socio-political and institutional settings offer rich, context-sensitive innovations and practical lessons. We will explore what makes these innovations unique and what contributes to global public policy conversation. 3. Persistent Challenges and Future Directions Despite significant progress, Asia continues to face profound structural and political challenges. The region encompasses developed and developing contexts, and global geopolitics influences policy directions. We will reflect on how these challenges shape Asia’s policy trajectory—and its emerging role as both a policy laboratory and a global policy setter. The roundtable will feature perspectives from selected Asian scholars and conclude with an open forum to engage contributions from the audience. Join us as we reflect on Asia’s journey from policy takers to policy shapers—and imagine the possibilities ahead.
