The Editorial Management Board of Evidence & Policy invites applications for the editorship of the journal to run for a period of three years from 1 January 2025, with the possibility of renewing for a second two-year term. The newly appointed Editor or Editors will work alongside the current Editor in Chief from September 2024 prior to a final handover at the end of December.

This opportunity has arisen because the term of the current Editor in Chief, Zachary Neal, will end in December 2024. Evidence & Policy is now inviting applications from all interested and eligible scholars who reflect the multidisciplinary and international nature of the journal in their expertise. Please note members of the current editorial team are also eligible to apply. We welcome applications from individuals, or teams of 2-3 Co-Editors, wishing to take on the role. We are particularly interested in building a diverse editorial team with good international networks that reflect the breadth of our intended readership. A small honorarium is associated with the role, to facilitate attendance at conferences or other meetings where the Editors can promote the journal. An Editorial Officer who supports the day to day work of the journal is currently in post. The Editors in Chief, Associate Editors and Editorial Management Board work closely together, are very supportive, and meet virtually at least twice a year to help inform future content of the journal.

Becoming the Editor or Co-Editor of a journal is a rewarding and fulfilling experience, providing an opportunity for you to make a contribution to the academic community and champion the research you care about, while developing your position as a leading figure in the field. As well as building your own networks, you will gain an insight into scholarly journals publishing. The journal is published by Policy Press, an imprint of Bristol University Press, a not-for-profit publisher whose goal is to publish the highest quality international scholarship and strives to ensure the work we publish makes a positive contribution and has impact beyond academia.

Evidence & Policy is the first peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the comprehensive and critical assessment of the relationship between researchers and the evidence they produce, and the concerns of policy makers and practitioners. International in scope and interdisciplinary in focus, it addresses the needs of those who develop public policies, provide public services, or provide the research base for evaluation and development across a wide range of social and public policy issues, and those who are working to connect the two (such as knowledge brokers). As well as more traditional research articles, the journal includes review articles, method articles, contemporary debate pieces and articles from practice.
