In an era marked by unprecedented crises such as the 2008 global financial crash, the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, and the 2022 Ukraine war, the need for timely, effective policymaking has never been clearer. These crises demonstrate the importance of sound policy frameworks and contingency plans in mitigating harm and navigating uncharted territories.
In collaboration with the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, this new program is designed to equip you with the core and practical skills necessary for effective policy design in times of crisis: “Advanced Policy Design: Insights from Europe & Singapore.”
This program will delve into how public administrators can navigate complex socio-political landscapes to achieve their goals while managing the inherent political and technical challenges of policy design. You will explore the selection of appropriate policy instruments, the crafting of robust solutions tailored to specific contexts, and the integration of strategic evaluation into policymaking to ensure effectiveness and accountability. Drawing from real-world examples in several European countries and Singapore, expert faculty will guide you through key policy design concepts, providing insights into the unique political, social, and institutional factors that shape policymaking in Europe and Asia.
This Executive School will take place from March 3 to 6, 2025, and targets mid to senior policymakers, public administrators, elected officials, policy analysts, and NGO leaders interested in deepening their awareness and knowledge of the complexity of policy design and in enhancing their skills in designing policies that can work.
